Shapes - 2/23/2024This was my first ever art piece made in Adobe Illustrator, so for that reason I put it in the showcase page. I learned one of the most important things about Illustrator during this activity: how to use the shape tool. As I have stressed many times before, shapes such as circles, squares, and rectangles are the base for all your art. As you can see here, the pizza is in a triangular shape, the pepperonies, the olives, and the artichokes made of circles. I also learned to use the shape builder tool, which basically lets me make additions or subtractions to make an original shape. It can also help with cutting off unecessary pieces in a project.

UVW Unwrapping - 2/13/2024When I was originally given this project, I thought it was going to be impossible. But the longer I spent on it, the more I realized that this wasnt true. UVW unwrapping can be really simple if you follow all the instructions and make sure everything is organized. I placed this here because I thought I was genuinely going to do worse. The project consisted of me taking apart the surface of the tank and bringing it into photoshop. There, I painted the map with some photos as well as text. I included some extras like wires poking out to simulate that the tank is used and breaking down. Later, I brought it back into photoshop and used materials to place it on the tank model. Thankfully, there were little to no creases and it looked decent.

Type Specimen - 2/28/2024The second thing I made on Adobe Illustrator, this type specimen dives further into text usage in Illustrator than shape building, but was still an essential tool for my future in design. Im particularily proud of the creative measures I took to make this look more entertaining, like the rips in the paper and ink splatters. I learned to organize the elements in an art piece, as well as correctly use the type tool in Illustrator. This project also introduced me to the concept of typefonts, something I never knew of before. It also helped me learn how some fonts are misused in everyday life, like Comic Sans and Papyrus. It is important we convene with the creator of something before we use it.

Menu - 3/24/2024This is probably my favorite thing that I have made in Illustrator. It is a menu of an imaginary restaurant called, "The Brunger Place," and it helped me improve my Illustrator work as well as things like organization. We started by making a hamburger, and there I was taught essential strategies like the Mesh Tool, Symbol making, Grouping, and Gradient. I also got further practice with the pen tool since in my last few creations I havent been using it much. We were then tasked with creating several other food items, so I made a waffle, cookies, and a drink. Afterwards, I went font hunting for something that was fun and unique, and settles on the fonts presented. I almost ran out of space several times, but I tweaked the title size and made sure everything was in an understandable order. The menu options I had more creative liberty with, so It didint stop me from giving them the dumbest names in the history of dumb names.

Badges - 3/6/2024These badges I spent an unecessarily long time on, but I got them finished in the end. I wanted to make badges based on the varying degrees of learning dragonologists would have to go through, ir dragons even existed. I did not know of the existence of the pen tool when I made this, so I just used the shape tool and brush to smoothen out the edges. The first badge is the dragon tamer basge, where the person must train a dragon. The second is the dragon rider badge, where the warrior must ride a dragon into battle, and the third is the dragonologist badge, the highest level you can get. Despite being a little wonky, I think my designs are actually decent considering I wasnt using the pen tool at all, so I am proud of my work in that aspect.
